Cortland Health & Rehabilitation -

We are looking for a Staff Development Nurse to coordinate on-going educational programs for all departments in order to enhance organizational growth.

This position will require some MDS responsibilities ( will train the right candidate)

Job Position

To act as an advisory and resource base for department heads for inter-departmental in-service.

Required Qualifications

The Staff Development Coordinator must possess:

  • State licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Skilled Nursing Home LTC: 2 years (Preferred)
  • Supervisor: 2 years (Preferred)

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct in- services as need per DON or designee in conjunction with both facility and regulatory compliance to include ad hoc and mandatory as needed but at least monthly.
  • Conduct orientation at lease weekly or as needed.
  • Document accurately all in services and Health Care Academy compliance.
  • Provide list of staff who has failed to attend in-services as required along with Health Care Academy class to department heads monthly.
  • Perform PCC training for all staff using PCC.
  • Do observations of staff skills.
  • Test staff according to skills needed to perform job.
  • Perform needed competencies for all staff and maintain records of successful completion on hire and at least annually.
  • Do PPDs for all staff and keep accurate documentation of such. Using the tools/procedures set forth by company.
  • Keep records of CPR Certification and Cards of all Employees and monitor to coordinate renewals with Classroom Education nurse.
  • Keep accurate records of Incontinence Products and MDS information regarding incontinence.
  • Perform QI Rounds weekly and report to appropriate person.
  • Coordinate Flu Clinic for employees and residents yearly.
  • Attend Daily Clinical Meetings- unless teaching orientation class at that time.
  • Attend PAR Meetings weekly.
  • Attend QA Meetings monthly.
  • Attend Policy/Procedure Review Meeting.
  • Work with Representative in absence of Wound Nurse.
  • Obtain Orientee Tests, grade them and provide teaching when needed to new employees..
  • Participate with weekend call.
  • Assist the DON/ADON and Administrator as requested.
  • Any duties as requested by supervisor.

Full vaccination against COVID-19 or a medical/religious exemption is required.

Salary/ Wage Range

Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including a candidates qualifications, skills, competencies and experience and may fall outside of the range shown.

Schedule:

  • 12 hour shift
  • 8 hour shift
  • Weekend availability

Education:

  • Associate's
  • Bachelor's (Preferred)

Experience:

  • Skilled Nursing Home LTC: 2 years (Preferred)
  • Supervisor: 2 years (Preferred)

License/Certification:

  • State licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)

Non-Essential Functions:

Complete annual education requirements.

Always maintain patient confidentiality.

Report to work on time and as scheduled.

Wear identification while on duty.

Maintain regulatory requirements, including all state, federal and local regulations.

Comply with all organizational policies and standards regarding ethical business practices.

Participate in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities.

Attend regular staff meetings and in-services as needed.

Qualifications:

Minimum of three (3) years experiences in healthcare required.

Current nursing license RN for state (MD) is required.

Bachelors degree (BSN) highly desirable but not required.

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Must be proficient and have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.).

Knowledge of competency/education software, such as Health.edu and Mosbys Elsevier is preferred but not required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Detail oriented and capable of exploring innovative solutions to solve complex problems and address issues using a combination of delivered and custom-developed tools

Ability to compile, code and categorize, or verify information/data

Strong organizational and interpersonal skills

Ability to determine appropriate course of action in more complex situations
