This role demands a high degree of creativity and autonomy in managing complex, high-impact projects. The Staff Engineer oversees the engineering direction of projects, provides innovative solutions to technical challenges, and offers guidance and training to engineers across the organization.Key Responsibilities
- Develop and distribute all process and structural engineering documentation required for project execution and construction.
- Collaborate effectively with sales, purchasing, estimating, manufacturing, suppliers, and customers to ensure project alignment.
- Review sales orders, specifications, and cost estimates to ensure compliance with design and structural requirements.
- Prepare design calculations and oversee the creation of drawings and related design documents.
- Review drawings and specifications to ensure consistency with project estimates.
- Provide support and resolve issues during assembly and testing, focusing on design manufacturability and functionality.
- Deliver advanced design and structural support throughout the production process, addressing technical challenges promptly.
- Mentor and train Designers and Design Engineers, sharing expertise and best practices.
- Work with Senior Staff Engineers or Lead Engineers to refine structural and design methodologies.
- Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to address technical inquiries and requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, manufacturability, and reduce rework.
- Lead key projects from concept to completion, ensuring milestone achievement, issue resolution, and design alignment with scope.
- Support sales and estimating teams by evaluating customer technical requirements and proposing tailored solutions.
- Establish and maintain document control protocols for design and engineering processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field is required; Professional Engineering license required.
- Obtain and maintain a Certificate of Engineer of Responsible Charge per ASME Section VIII Division 1 for two or more scope activities.
- Minimum of five or more years of experience in a process and structural engineering related field.
- Self-motivated with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Demonstrated work ethic and initiative, ensuring task completion in a dynamic setting.
- Capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
- Advanced organizational and planning abilities.
