The Staff Nurse is responsible for assessments, documentation, and oversight of care for the clients. They will partner with the Behavioral Health Nurse Manager to provide excellent care. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES TO INCLUDE:

  • Promotes and supports a positive work environment focused on team building and collaboration.
  • Provides on-call backup to the community.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all pertinent personal or health information concerning clients and staff.
  • Ensures that all the needs are met for the clients as well as advising staff that are on the shift.
  • Ensures that any incident reports are completed properly and promptly.
  • Prepares necessary medical paperwork for all scheduled client appointments.
  • Assists with compliance in meeting regulations and is available for state licensure surveys.
  • Maintains client files and appropriate documents as required.
  • Assists Medication Aides and Caregivers in service delivery and training as requested.
  • Notifies Behavioral Health Nurse Manager of any new doctors' orders that are received and informs the BHNM of any med changes.
  • Performs inventory management for medication administration by Medication Aides and checks new medications from the pharmacy.
  • Assist with picking up shifts on an evenly distributed schedule among nursing staff as needed.
  • Obtains, administers, and documents prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques and facility standards of practice.
  • Observes clients, records significant conditions and reactions, and notifies supervisor, family (responsible party), and physician of clients change in condition and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents.
  • Takes temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs to detect deviations from normal and assess the condition of clients.
  • Keeps client's physician informed of any changes in clients behavior, medications, or conditions of health.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Familiarity with PointClickCare software a plus.
  • Holds an active LPN or RN license.
  • Minimum of two years' experience in a healthcare facility.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to research and analyze several types of data, especially compliance and regulatory standards.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to plan and carry out job tasks independently.
  • Must be able to exercise discretion and solid judgment.
  • Ability to set priorities, manage multiple tasks simultaneously and adapt efficiently to change.
  • Effectively communicate with all levels of employees and management.
