Sign-on incentive: Qualified candidates with a minimum of two years of experience are eligible for a sign-on bonus up to $10,000The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics Department of Nursing is seeking a Staff Nurse to perform specific tasks to assist members of the Nursing team in providing patient care under the direct supervision of the Nurse Manager. This position works closely with the Pediatric Urology team caring for the entire peds urology population (PSC, IRL and Outreach).Duties Include but are not limited to:
- Phone triage and mychart triage for medical questions-back up to clinical coordinator
- Respond to inquiries from physician offices, patients, patient family members, integrate information and respond if answers within scope of RN clinical practice, or forward to Urology residents for appropriate escalation of care
- Clinic Prep
- Ensure appropriate testing (labs, urine testing, imaging) obtained before each clinic and ensure appropriate timeline for appointments (time-sensitive vs. first available)
- Manage referrals and determine appropriate testing based on algorithm or communication with provider
- Conduct postoperative check-in phone calls
- Be present in clinic for assistance with order entry, education, teaching, and preoperative teaching
- Inpatient catheterization teaching or urology specific cares
Percent of Time: 90% 36 hours/weekSchedule: Monday - Friday, 0830 - 1700 Location: John Pappajohn Pavilion (JPP)Rotations: No holidays, no weekends, no callSalary: $60,000 minimum at 100% effort to commensurate. Education Required
- An Associate's Degree in Nursing, a Diploma in Nursing, a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, Professional Masters of Nursing and Healthcare Practice (MNHP), MSN/Clinical Nurse Leader or a Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN, MA) is required
Experience Required
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required
- Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills with patients/families, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members as demonstrated through written and verbal interactions
- General computer skills are required
- Ability to communicate complicated information to children and their parents
- Proven ability to problem solve
- Proven ability to integrate into a team
- Current license to practice nursing in Iowa is required by date of hire
