About the Role
We're seeking a Staff Operations Manager to lead with strength, fairness, and vision. If you're proactive, prosocial, disciplined, and determined—and capable of guiding a high-performing team with compassion and confidence—this role is for you.
What You'll Do
- Daily Leadership Rounds: Check in with nursing and client care teams first thing and last thing daily. Facilitate team huddles to review policies, address issues, and foster collective responsibility.
- Scheduling Oversight: Work with Team Leads to ensure staffing schedules are met and hospital needs are proactively managed.
- Team Development: Recruit top talent—people who are likewise proactive, prosocial, disciplined, and determined. Mentor leaders and champion continuous improvement.
- Performance Management: Address interpersonal issues without delay. Deliver constructive feedback and, when necessary, confidently reprimand or terminate staff while maintaining team morale.
- Optimize Communication: Recognize inefficiencies and work collaboratively to improve team workflows and communication.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Healthcare Administration, or a related field preferred
- Advanced degree (MBA or MHA) or relevant certifications (e.g., SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR) preferred
- 5+ years of management experience preferred, ideally in a leadership role overseeing teams or departments
- Proven ability to manage budgets, resources, and strategic planning
- Demonstrated success in creating and implementing organizational policies or workflows
- Experience coaching, mentoring, and developing staff at various levels
HR Experience:
- Strong knowledge of HR laws and regulations (e.g., FMLA, ADA, EEOC, labor laws)
- Experience in recruitment, onboarding, and performance management processes
- Proven ability to handle employee relations issues, mediate conflicts, and ensure compliance with HR policies
- Experience conducting or overseeing terminations and disciplinary actions in a professional and ethical manner
- Familiarity with HR software systems (e.g., Paycom, BambooHR, ADP, or Workday)
- Previous experience in a medical, veterinary, or healthcare setting is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with the unique challenges of managing clinical and administrative staff in high-stress environments
- Understanding of healthcare compliance standards and safety protocols
- Knowledge of scheduling and staffing for 24/7 operations, including shift work

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in emergency medicine or specialty practices (veterinary or human medicine)
- Certification in Lean/Six Sigma, Working Genius, or experience in process improvement initiatives
- Familiarity with practice management software and tools (e.g., Instinct, Cornerstone, ezyVet, Avimark for veterinary settings).
