The Clinical Trials Specialist will manage the cardiothoracic, vascular and surgical clinical trials in the Departments of Surgery and Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgery. They will be responsible for the operations of the clinical trials including pre-study site selection visits and study visits, recruitment, keeping strict adherence to the protocols and supervising research personnel. The Clinical Trials Specialist will maintain compliance with all regulatory bodies associated with human subject research.

Responsibilities include but not limited to

Conduct study start up activities for all assigned clinical trials. Review protocols in detail, set up record-keeping systems.

Oversees the recruitment and enrollment of patients, implement study procedures, administers informed consent process and collects / process data in specified systems.

Follow each clinical trial protocol as developed and finalized.

Prepares for and participates in site visits on a regular basis

Schedules participants for protocol-related evaluations. Collaborate with physicians, investigators and other healthcare providers.

Administers, scores and evaluates results of patient assessments as assigned. Collect data, confer with the Clinical Trial Manager and/or PI and forward results to the sponsor.

Ensure that patients are registered in accordance with the Research Billing Compliance Guidelines. Work with the educate the billing staff about the guidelines.

Ensure availability of device/drug supplies and/or equipment for studies. Maintain device/drug accountability log.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree preferred- or in progress

Three years of work experience in a clinical setting preferred

Experience in Clinical Trials is required Proficiency with computers (i.e., MS Office, database, Internet) and data entry
