RAFFLES WEEKLY FOR CURRENT AND NEW EMPLOYEES INCLUDING A NEW CAR/SUV!!!Department: NursingReports to: Director of NursingPosition: Staff RNThe purpose of the Staff RN position is to provide, plan, coordinate or manage nursing care,nursing services and health education to nursing home residents. Must be in accordance with currentfederal, state, and within the limits of licensure, local standards, guidelines, and regulations that governthe facility. RN Unit Managers are responsible to maintain the highest degree of quality care at all times.Duties:A) Know, follow, interpret, and direct all policies and procedures and communications as needed topersonnel, residents, visitors, and government agencies, and other accrediting bodies such as theNYS Department of Health and Human Services.B) Maintain a good working rapport with personnel within the facility to ensure services can beadequately maintained to meet the holistic need of the residentC) Pass medications, provide treatment and do assessments to residents to assist with maintaining the quality of nursingservices renderedD) Develop and implement the residents plan of careE) Initiate investigations according to the policyF) Monitor all documentation by the certified nurse aides as related theresidents plan of careG) Direct the implementation of clinical initiativesH) Place resident service first: ensure that residents and their families receive the highest quality ofservice in a caring and compassionate atmosphere which recognizes the individual's needs andrights.I) Supervisory responsibilities include.1. Receive calls and find replacements for absent staff2. Determine rotation of employees as needed and transfer employees among units as needed3. Prepare performance evaluations of employees4. Monitor and correct job performance of employees5. Is in charge of facility in absence of higher ranking management officials6. Use independent judgment and discretion on behalf of the organization in the performance ofthese dutiesClinical:a. Perform nursing assessments regarding the health status of the residentb. Perform skin assessments on new admissions, readmissionsc. Use a systematic approach regarding the health status of the residentd. Select and institute nursing intervention that might be required to stabilize a resident'scondition and/or prevent complicationse. Consult with physician or licensed independent practitioner as neededf. Clarify orders or treatment regimen as neededg. Understand the rationale for the effect of medications and treatments, and administer sameh. Report and document the resident's symptoms, responses and statusEducation:Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Has obtained R.N. and has a current unencumbered NewYork State license. Long term care experience preferred.
