Job Summary: The Staff Scheduling Coordinator organizes and facilitates all staffing and scheduling needs within the nursing department. The Staff Scheduler assists with coverage for scheduled and unscheduled leave and communicates daily coverage plans to staff and directors. The Staff Scheduler is also responsible for assisting with the timecard processing, including review, editing, and approval.
Primary Job Functions:
* Receives daily call-ins from the nursing staff and creates a staff plan for coverage for areas in need.
* Exercises discretion and independent judgement daily in reorganizing assignments, to ensure coverage adequate coverage to meet patient care needs.
* Maintains and communicates daily schedules for available staff and floats.
* Routinely interacts with and uses independent judgment to solve problems effectively with physicians, patients, staff, and organizational leaders.
* Process employee benefit time request and daily staff requests and fills them efficiently. Uphold accurate system for tracking staff over a variety of shifts.
* Assures staff are allocated correctly in the HRIS system (or approved tracking method) for staff working outside of their department.
* Assists with payroll to verify payroll accuracy.
* Assists with specific departmental weekly or monthly staff schedules
Other Job Functions:
* Monitors overtime and attendance of employees and reports to directors.
* Assists with optimizing staff resources, scheduling staff, and work assignments
* Assists with monthly staff expense reports
* Assists with Training schedules
* Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education:
* High School Diploma or GED
* Associates degree or higher in a related field of study preferred
Work Experience:
* Previous work experience in a healthcare setting
* At least 2 years of experience in a similar clinical setting
Required Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities:
* Excellent communication skills
* Demonstrated ability to deal with conflict in a positive manner
* Has an awareness of, responds to, and considers the needs, feelings and capabilities of others
* Proficient in Microsoft and other software for word processing, spreadsheets, databases, graphics, and scheduling
* Great organizational and stress management abilities
* Demonstrate ability to prioritize workload, using time effectively to achieve expected productivity and efficiency
Work Environment:
* Work is typically performed indoors with occasional exposure to outdoor temperatures and conditions
* Exposure to communicable diseases and toxic substances
Physical Requirements:
* Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard
* Requires full range of body motion
* Vision and hearing to normal range
