Burke & Lamb, PC a growing CPA firm is seeking a highly motivated professional to join our team in New Bedford, MA. With offices in New Bedford, MA and Nantucket, MA we service clients throughout the South Coast, Cape, and the Islands. We provide audit, accounting, tax and management consulting services to a diverse group of clients, including but not limited to commercial fishing, restaurants, nonprofit organizations, manufacturing, healthcare, petroleum distribution and retail, and professional services.If you are interested in applying for this job, please make sure you meet the following requirements as listed below. The ideal candidate should have at least 1 to 6 years of public accounting experience. The staff accountant should possess strong communication skills and be proficient in computer programs such as MS Office, QuickBooks and ProSystem fx tax software. Experience should include preparation of individual, corporate, fiduciary, and nonprofit income tax returns; financial statement preparation; year-end business closings, and general business and tax consulting. Responsibilities:Prepare individual, corporate, partnership, fiduciary and nonprofit tax returnsTrial balance preparation and analysis of trial balance accountsPrepare Tax Planning and Projections.Audit, review and compilation engagements for various types of clientsReconciliation and posting of the general ledgerMonth-end, Quarter-end, and Year-end closingTax and GAAP research Requirements:1+ years of public accounting experience.Individual, corporate (S & C Corp), fiduciary, and nonprofit tax return prep experienceGeneral ledger and trial balance experienceDetail oriented with the ability to manage multiple engagements simultaneouslyKnowledge of QuickBooksProficient in Microsoft Office and AdobeKnowledge of CCH ProSystem fx Tax and ProSystem fx Engagement a plusStrong written and verbal communication and organizational skills.Ability to work in an environment with changing priorities and deadlinesAbility to conduct tax research utilizing checkpoint tax software and government websites EDUCATION:Bachelor's degree in Accounting, or equivalentMaster's degree in Accounting or Taxation preferredCPA or CPA candidate preferred Compensation and benefits:Competitive compensation based on experienceMedical insuranceRetirement planProfessional education and trainingVacation, PTO, Paid-Holidays, etc.
