This position is located in the Human Resources Department at the Veterans Home of California - West Los Angeles and is responsible for a variety of the most difficult duties and is expected to consistently exercise a high degree of initiative, independence and originality in performing assigned tasks.

Working Conditions

Employees of CalVet will be required to follow state or county public health guidelines and requirements enacted in accordance with infectious disease prevention and control.

Vaccination:

* In accordance with current California Department of Public Health (CDPH) Orders and/or Department of Social Serivces (DSS) PINs, workers in various health care settings, including those who work at Veterans Homes, must be vaccinated against COVID-19, including the booster vaccine, or submit a declination form.

Mandatory Testing:

* Staff who are not fully vaccinated or have submitted a declination form are subject to semi-weekly (twice per week) testing.

* Additional testing may be required for vaccinated and unvaccinated staff based upon current CDPH orders, DSS Pins and/or CalOSHA guidelines and are subject to change.

* If selected for hire, you may provide proof of vaccination to the hiring supervisor or designee during the pre-employment process. Vaccination information will not affect hiring selections, however, start dates will not be negotiated until proof of vaccination or exemption requirements are submitted timely and approved.

Face Coverings:

* While working on-site at any CalVet facility, employees must follow current face covering guidance as issued by the California Department of Public Health. Employees working in a county where the local health jurisdiction has issued a stricter public health ordinance must comply with the local order.

Special Requirements

Veterans may qualify for a CalVet Veterans Hiring Preference. Military service must be included in the Employment History section of the Employment Applications (STD. 678). The application package must include documentation of discharge, appropriate to the branch of service. The documentation must reflect a discharge/release under conditions other than dishonorable. If the candidate fails to include this information then the CalVet Veterans Hiring Preference shall not be granted in the recruitment.
