ABOUT THIS ROLE This is an incredible opportunity for a Staff Technical Program Manager to play a crucial role in shaping the foundations and future of our rapidly growing Apex Fintech Solutions organization. In this role, you'll help scale the organization by creating a best practice program governance and operations function, improving our project delivery practices, building alignment with the many teams that build services for our customers, and taking ownership of cross-functional initiatives that are critical to the success of our strategy. This position will also lead a team of technical program managers to deliver on Apex's priorities. You will collaborate closely with the leaders, operations, product, engineering, and other TPMs across Apex. The role will require constant balance between long term product vision along with addressing immediate needs, driving an incremental approach that is metrics and data driven. It will require communicating effectively with leaders across Director and VP level on a regular basis while ensuring that the teams are aligned and stakeholders are aware of key performance indicators. Role Responsibilities:
  • Provide leadership and day to day management of technical program managers on the team with managerial oversight for multiple projects. Monitor and guide project scope, costs, schedules, staffing, communications, risk / issues, and quality of projects assigned to staff. Grow, mentor, guide careers of team members
  • Serve as a liaison between the business, product, and technical teams for strategy definition, prioritization, initiative kickoff, tracking, communications, and deployment
  • Partner closely with peers, leaders, and stakeholders to build and drive the strategic vision for Apex's tech product delivery and execution; work with senior leaders to foresee and solve complex problems thereby enabling efficiency and scale
  • Maintain a continuous project portfolio roadmap for the organization
  • Actively manage organizational capacity management through annual, quarterly and sprint planning and operations to protect team delivery commitments
  • Execute communications operations for the Technical Program Management team including operations, project, and status with a strong internal and external customer focus
  • Drive organization change management through a planned delivery excellence program, defined roadmap, engagement management with stakeholders, and execution of planned improvements
  • Identify, develop, and put into practice new tools and processes that enable Apex to scale and optimize its product delivery efficiency and effectiveness
  • Proven ability to create KPI's and OKR's that are representative of the health of the organization
  • Help break down projects into component parts, identifying and tracking dependencies and opportunities for optimization; proactively identify problems and recommend solutions before they become blockers
  • Manage large-scale, cross-organization programs, integrations, and migration efforts
  • Work closely with software development teams to define, improve internal tools and processes key to engineering success
  • Provide ongoing visibility into the progress, risks, and timelines of projects against targeted deadlines to application teams as well as other stakeholders and executive leadership. Make recommendations based on team impact, priorities, and value delivered to our customers
  • Build clear and transparent communication channels to align internal stakeholders and ensure that relevant audiences receive accurate updates on programs and projects
  • Manage the release of key engineering projects to internal customers in a regular cadence. Document and present team's deliverables at town halls
  • Facilitate project meetings, Scrum ceremony meetings, and project post mortems. Holds the team accountable to come to meetings prepared, and own action items or process improvement outcomes that result
  • Coach individuals and teams on project management best practices
  • Work with teams to clarify goals and deliverables; bring data to planning and prioritization
  • Create and refine processes when necessary; maintain focus on reliability and continual improvements, and automation and scaling
  • Identify KPIs and success metrics, collect and analyze data; make information visible
  • Communicate goals, status, risks, and impact to teams and stakeholders
Minimum Qualifications:
  • B.S. in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration or equivalent
  • You have at least 10 years of experience in technical program management in a dynamic and highly technical environment, a strong track record in managing multiple complex cross-functional projects in a cloud/SaaS environment
  • 5+ years leading a team of technical project or program managers
  • You have experience working collaboratively across organizations; strong leadership and interpersonal skills, experience building and fostering effective working relationships
  • Excellent verbal and written communications for technical and non-technical audiences with the ability to tailor and deliver communications to all levels of an organization from project teams to executive leadership
  • You take a data-driven approach to program management; building tools (workflows, custom work intake processes, estimation models), collecting and analyzing data, and driving stakeholder buy-in
  • You have experience influencing without direct authority at senior levels internal and external to the engineering organization
  • Strong organizational, problem solving and analytical skills
  • Expert-level knowledge of project management techniques and tools within various software development methodologies ( e.g. Waterfall, SDLC, Agile)
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office, MS Project, Visio, and other agile collaboration & work tracking tools (Wiki's, Confluence, JIRA, TFS, etc).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Project Management Institute certification (PMP or CAPM)
  • Scrum Master Certification
  • Familiarity with distributed systems and experience working in a SaaS environment
  • Work experience in the financial industry
This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Salary Range $134,400-$168,000 The annual base salary range for this position is noted above. Exact compensation offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and office location.
