Position Title: Staff Training & Development Specialist (Full Time)

Organization Profile: Hawthorne Foundation Inc. serves children and adults with autism and other developmental disabilities. Our educational, vocational and life skills programs are only a few of the programsavailable. We also offer parent training, recreational activities and crisis intervention.

Job Responsibilities (Staff Training & Development Specialist):
Assumes, as Training and Development Specialist, the delegated authority, responsibility and accountability to carry out all assigned duties.
Collaborates with Training Coordinator on initial, NHO, and ongoing in-service training programs throughout HFI in accordance with Federal, State and Local regulations, as well as HFI's policies and procedures
Provides training to staff as needed at Training Facility and or at Program site
Develops training curriculum in collaboration with Training Coordinator
Trains staff in educational and leadership principles and practices
Creates and leads training to Agency staff using regulations as foundational research.
Creates, and develops trainings to ensure compliance with State regulations in collaboration Training Coordinator
Ensures training records are accurately tracked and entered into Learning Management Database by Training Department; maintains records of and documents staff participation in training programs and compliance with OPWDD, 14 NYCRR, Part 633 and NYSED CEU and CTLE training requirements. Reviews, edits and updates agency trainings, to ensure the most relevant information
Observes staff and evaluates the knowledge of educational methods, creates trainings specific to staff needs in collaboration with Training Coordinator.
Provides training to IRA staff as needed on program site
Ensures instructor training certifications remain current
Certifies staff in related areas- SCIP-R, CPR etc.
Conducts studies and surveys to assess the effectiveness of and need for additional staff training.
Job Type: Full-time Required education:
Bachelor's degree in Education, Special Education, Human Services or related field with ample experience or
Master's Degree Educational Leadership with some experience
Required experience (if applicable):
Experience supervising or training staff in a facility/program servicing individuals with developmental disabilities (residential and school program experience preferred)
Work experience in the field of Developmental Disabilities and individuals with special needs Sensitivity to the needs of staff, students and individuals supported
