Falmouth Academy is seeking a part-time stagecraft and technical theater teacher for the 2024-25 school year. Preferred candidates will have an academic background in technical theater or a related field, as well as experience working in a school setting. Responsibilities include overseeing and executing all aspects of the technical and A/V needs in the Simon Center for the Arts, to include both school and community events. Scheduling for the position is flexible, though it includes some weekends, after-school, and evening hours, depending on the calendar of events. This position will also be responsible for leading our after school Stagecraft activity which integrates closely with the Drama department and its production of three annual school plays. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Oversee all aspects of event and theatrical productions including but not limited to: safety, sets, lighting, projection, audio, staging and props Ensure that all aspects of the event comply with current life safety codes and requirements Act as the primary carpenter in the scene shop Supervise and direct student-staffed stage crew Other duties as assigned by the Arts Chair PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS BFA in Technical Production or Technical Direction Management preferred Three-years of experience in a comparable environment with a proven record of success Ability to lift 50 lbs. and handle extensive standing, walking and ladder climbing. Ability to remain calm and productive in difficult situations demonstrating good people skills and sense of humor.
