Location: Mobile,AL, USA
Reporting to the VP of Policy & State Affairs, this position will monitor legislative developments, build relationships with business organizations and policymakers, and advocate for policies that align with the organization's strategic economic growth objectives.
Responsibilities
1. Build and maintain strategic relationships with local and state officials, community leaders, and advocacy groups to promote organizational goals, with a focus on fostering partnerships that drive regional economic growth and investment.
2. Monitor and analyze legislative developments to assess potential opportunities and risks for the organization.
3. Advocate for the organization's policy positions by preparing impactful materials such as testimony, policy briefs, and position statements.
4. Collaborate with business associations, industry groups, and internal departments to align and strengthen advocacy efforts, prioritizing policies and projects that support sustainable economic development.
5. Provide timely, clear, and actionable updates to leadership on state affairs activities and policy changes.
6. Represent the organization effectively at government hearings, public meetings, and community events to enhance its visibility and influence.
7. Execute public outreach strategies and manage external event participation to maximize community engagement and organizational representation.
8. Plan and coordinate events, including legislative briefings, advocacy days, and stakeholder meetings, to facilitate productive interactions with policymakers, highlighting opportunities for investment and economic growth.
9. Evaluate sponsorship requests to determine their strategic alignment with organizational values and priorities.
10. Draft comprehensive reports, summaries, and recommendations for internal stakeholders to inform decision-making and drive advocacy efforts forward.
11. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Required Education and Experience
Education
Four-year college degree Focus Areas: Communications, Public Relations, Political Science or a related field.
Experience
2-5 years
Proven experience in a government affairs, public policy, or a related role.

Minimum Required Knowledge:
Strong knowledge of local and state government processes.
