The State Filings Representative is responsible for rate, rule and form filings with all relevant insurance departments and bureaus and subsequent implementation in Berkshire Hathaway GUARDs proprietary systems. Additional responsibilities include tracking industry changes and monitoring regulatory issues.
Duties include: preparation and development of filings for forms, rates and rules with various state insurance departments; researching, analyzing, and advising management on product compliance with state insurance laws; drafting, creating, and revising product documents such as contracts, forms, policies, manuals and endorsements; handling responses to objections through communication with insurance departments; collaborating with various internal departments to create a final filing product and address other compliance matters; answering inquiries directed toward the department; gaining intimate knowledge on the rating of policies and coverages; along with other activities as may be assigned.
Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Office products, specifically Excel and Word. Attention to detail and accuracy is a must, as is a sense of organization and prioritization! All candidates should be strong in math, and have the flexibility to work on multiple projects with the ability to meet tight deadlines. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
Bachelors degree preferred. All candidates with experience in regulatory filings, legal research, a background in law and/or math, experience in property and casualty insurance, and/or those with a CPCU designation are strongly encouraged to apply!!
