Position Type: Elementary SchoolDate Posted: 2/28/2024Location: Susie Dasher ElementaryDate Available: 07/26/2024STEAM Coordinator Susie Dasher Elementary School Position Purpose The STEAM Coordinator will plan and coordinate all STEAM related educational activities, including the purchasing and planned use of tools and resources, professional development and projects for Susie Dasher Elementary School. Preferred Experience and Skills ? Minimum of 4 years teaching experience preferred in either the sciences, technology, and/or the arts, with a strong personal interest and exposure to all three areas, and the desire and skill to integrate across various disciplines ? Knowledge of current best practices in inquiry and STEM/STEAM education ? Experience coaching teachers and/or leading professional development ? Ability to work collaboratively within school and district settings as well as with community/professional development partners ? Strong verbal and written communication skills. ? Proven organizational skills ? Flexible demeanor and proven ability to work on a team ? Ability to maintain confidentiality in all school matters Duties and Responsibilities ? Operate as an advocate for and supporter of inquiry and project-based learning ? Demonstrate the skills and attitude of a master teacher and actively engage others in professional growth opportunities ? Provide guidance and instructional support to teachers to implement creative STEAM projects in the classroom for grades K - 4. ? Research and recommend the purchase of appropriate STEAM tools and resources for classroom use. ? Manage resources and serve as instructional staff person for faculty/staff STEAM programming ? Plan and implement both internal and external professional development opportunities in STEAM for faculty / staff. ? Implement STEAM-related software programs in the classroom with a staff education component as relates to STEAM curriculum. ? Team-teach STEAM curriculum with faculty during the school day. ? Plan and facilitate meetings of STEAM Advisory Committee to dig deeply into the curriculum and provide guidance as to which opportunities should be created for STEAM. ? Research and attend top STEAM conferences yearly. ? Work with community organizations to establish partnerships to provide or expand co-curricular programming which supports student success ? Coordinate elementary STEAM/Science Fair ? Implement and monitor a system of measurement of student performance ? Coordinate school wide efforts towards GaDOE STEM/STEAM certification ? Provide data on programming to stakeholders and assist the Principal with data reporting to GaDOE, grantors, and other entities ? Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of the job.Additional Duties Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent Note: The above description is illustrative of tasks and responsibilities. GaPSC certification in a related area (preferred) FLSA Status: Exempt 190 day teacher contract Placement on the DCS Salary Schedule based on verified years of experience and GaPSC certification level
