Summary The -STEAM/STEM Program Director/Coordinator oversees all operational and programming aspects of the Violence Prevention and Reduction ICJIA Grant to ensure quality, targeted programming for youth aged 11-17. The STEAM/STEM Program Director/Coordinator plays a pivotal role in shaping and implementing innovative curricula that leverage advanced technological resources and skills. This role is focused on steering violence prevention programming, ensuring that activities are impactful and resonate with the target population. The Director/Coordinator will act as a bridge between the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and the Don Moyer Boys & Girls Club (DMBGC), fostering relationships that enhance youth access to educational and future-oriented opportunities. The STEAM/STEM Program Director/Coordinator reports to the Chief Operating Officer and supervises all ICJIA staff. Current Grant Window end June 2025 with expectation of ICJIA continuation. This is a full-time, exempt position with excellent benefits. The daily schedule for this position during the school year is 11:00AM-8:00PM, Monday through Friday; the schedule for this position during summer camp operations is between 7:30AM-6:30PM, Monday through Friday. - Leadership and Supervision
- Supervises, trains, coaches, and evaluates and provides general leadership and supervision to part- and full-time ICJIA staff, volunteers, and interns
- Establishes and implements ICJIA goals and objectives pursuant to organizational mission and goals, in accordance with grant and funding requirements as well as directives established by the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer
- Provides guidance and leadership to ICJIA staff in managing classroom and member behavior and expectations
- Ensures that ICJIA staff, volunteers, members, and interns understand organizational mission and vision as well as ICJIA goals and objectives; provides opportunities for feedback and information sharing Program Quality and Safety
- Supports ICJIA staff in the planning and implementation of age-appropriate youth ICJIAs that support DMBGC's five core ICJIA areas
- Reviews daily service records to evaluate ICJIA planning efficacy and identify training needs
- Ensures a healthy, safe environment with well-maintained facilities, equipment, and supplies
- Regularly reviews programming and activities to monitor youth engagement and for continuous improvement activities Data and Compliance
- Ensures needed documentation is completed and that attendance and ICJIA data are accurately reflected and recorded
- Reviews all ICJIA-related grant requirements to ensure appropriate outcomes and use of funds
- Reviews ICJIA data for accuracy and supports completion of ICJIA reports
- Supports membership registration and volunteer processes by providing up-to-date ICJIA information
- Participates in the implementation and monitoring of ICJIA budget, approves ICJIA purchases, and oversees ICJIA compliance with Club financial and accounting policies Additional Responsibilities
- May be required to operate Club vehicle
- May be required to directly lead program activities
- May be required to work evenings or weekends to support special events and programming
- Other duties as assigned Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Education, Public Health, Child or Human development, Psychology, Social Work, or related field (Master's Preferred- Director Level)
- Minimum of 5 years in program development and management, particularly in youth development, education, or community services.
- Three or more years of direct supervision or management of a team
- Previous experience with a youth development organization (direct programming preferred)
- Ability to work flexible schedule based upon ICJIA/organizational needs
- Group leadership skills, including an understanding of group dynamics
