Nemours is seeking a Stem Cell Laboratory Medical Technologist, Full-Time, to join our Nemours Children's Health team in Wilmington, Delaware.

Up to $20,000 Sign on Bonus depending on relevant recent work experience working in a stem cell laboratory (external applicants only).

Work Schedule: Full time dayshift position with weekend rotations

Medical Technologist for Clinical Laboratory; must have BSMT or equivalent, and be able to provide high quality results with attention to detail and offer excellent customer service to families and colleagues. Demonstrates professional, friendly, courteous, interpersonal skill in interactions with hospital staff, supervisory staff, co-workers, customers, and patients/family members.

The provision of laboratory services by the performance of clinical laboratory procedures and related tasks.

* Performance of analytical procedures following Blood Bank Laboratory protocols. Supervision is not required for specimen processing, test performance, reporting results of procedures with documented training. In this function, must be able to perform all required calibration, quality control, statistical calculations and other process control and mathematical functions. Associate must also be able to understand Blood Bank concepts.

* Assigned laboratory responsibilities to manage monthly with follow up to the Supervisor.

* Participates as a member on inspection teams, for example, as part of the College of American Pathologists, AABB and/ or FDA. Orders, accessions, statuses and reports results of tests performed on patient specimens, monitoring a variety of critical clinical issues, such as patient identifiers, specimen quality, order appropriateness, etc. In this function, must be able to read and understand a variety of written material such as specimen requisitions, worksheets, patient identification, specimen requirements, etc., whether performing this task manually (e.g., on paper) or through the use of an information system. Must be able to check and verify information such as patient identification, lot numbers, expiration dates, etc., and act appropriately.

* Uses, calibrates and performs trouble-shooting and maintenance on laboratory equipment following established procedures, and as assigned by supervisor. Must be able to take responsibility for laboratory equipment performance.

* Receive and store Stem Cell Products and / or Human Tissue Allografts following appropriate procedures

* Reviews technical and administrative procedures as assigned. The medical technologist is responsible for staying informed about section changes, procedure changes and updates, etc.; procedures must be reviewed at least once every two years, and documented as per section protocols. Reviews questions about procedures with section supervisor or designee as needed, informing supervisor when confusion about instructions or procedures exists.

* Handles supply and inventory issues as required/assigned, identifying key technical parameters, such as lot numbers, storage requirements, etc. as required for performance of laboratory procedures. Follows laboratory section inventory procedures (e.g., recording date received, condition when received, checking order forms, invoices, etc.) Retrieves supplies, equipment from storage areas as needed.

* Answers telephone as assigned; in this function, interacts routinely with a variety of individuals, including physicians, and other clinical staff.

* Follows all laboratory and hospital safety policies (including, but not limited to chemical safety, e.g., the laboratory's Chemical Hygiene Plan, infection control policies, etc.). Must be able to perform functions using personal protective equipment and barrier protection, such as disposable gloves, laboratory coats, shields, goggles, etc. Must be able to handle a variety of hazardous materials, such as chemicals and pathogenic organisms. Handles hazardous materials using appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE); ensures hazardous waste is accurately labeled.

* Trains others as assigned (e.g., students, residents, new employees, etc.).

* On- call rotation assigned, when warranted.

Job Requirements

* B. S. in Medical Technology (B.S.M.T. or equivalent, e.g., HHS examination or ability to meet CLIA qualifications for Moderate complexity laboratory testing) required.

* Clinical Laboratory technical skills.

* ASCP certification or equivalent required within 90 days of hire.
