Job DescriptionJob Title: Stem Lab Educational AssistantContract Length: 181 daysFLSA Status: Non-exemptJob SummaryAs a STEM lab Educational Assistant, your role will be to support the effective delivery of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education in a laboratory setting. You will assist students with hands-on learning experiences, experiments, and projects, and ensure smooth operation of the lab.Essential DutiesLab Preparation and Setup:
- Collaborate with the general education teacher to plan and prepare lab activities, experiments, and demonstrations.
- Set up lab equipment, materials, and supplies required for each experiment or project.
Assistance during Lab Sessions:
- Assist students in understanding and following lab procedures, safety guidelines, and ethical practices.
- Answer questions, clarify concepts, and guide students through experimental procedures.
- Troubleshoot technical issues with equipment or software as needed.
Safety and Risk Management:
- Promote a culture of safety by enforcing lab safety rules and protocols.
- Monitor students' activities to ensure compliance with safety guidelines and intervene when necessary.
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of safety protocols and emergency procedures.
Lab Maintenance and Inventory Management:
- Assist in the inventory management of lab materials.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities Required)
- Must hold at least an Associated Degree or successful test results on the ParaPro Assessment
- Demonstrate basic reading, writing, and computation skills.
- Have previous experience working with groups of children.
- Have good physical and emotional health.
