A sterile processing technician (a.k.a. a superhero).As a sterile processing technician, your duties include: Maintains a clean and orderly central processing work area (e.g. shelves, counters, equipment)Adheres to the sterilization process policies and proceduresCleans each item according to manufacturer's instructionInspects instruments for damage and defects; lubricates items as requiredDetermines that each item is in good working conditionSorts and arranges items into proper packsWraps packs and individual items according to policy and procedureAccurately labels each item with name and expiration dateCorrectly operates sterilizers, ultrasonic washer and other equipment for processing itemsPositions items correctly in sterilizer and selects proper cyclesChecks indicators for proper functioningPerforms required biological/chemical monitoring tests on all sterilizers and maintains logsMaintains availability of supplies for continuity of recording throughout sterilization processCleans sterilizers according to established policies and proceduresMaintains inventory levels and accurate records; Places items in correct locationsChecks for outdated items and package integrity of wrapped sterilized items; replaces items as necessaryMaintains and updates the instrument inventory listBenefits:Health insuranceDental insuranceVision insuranceRetirement planPaid time offRequirementsStarting wage is based upon experience.
