The Sterile Processing Technician ensures equipment, instruments, and supplies can be reused safely to prevent infections by preparing, sterilizing, installing, assembling, or cleaning all surgical or healthcare equipment required for surgeries, examinations, and medical procedures.Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Wear appropriate PPE (Personal protective equipment).
  • Cleans all work surfaces prior to processing and cleans up work area throughout the day and at end of day.
  • Restocks supplies.
  • Completes washer and sonic tests.
  • Readies sterilizers, performs warm up, and Bowie Dick test at the start of the day.
  • Performs equipment cleaning, or disinfecting at the scheduled times.
  • Records temperatures and humidity.
  • Fill surgical case carts with needed items.
  • Rotate instruments and put away sterile sets.
  • Empty the cart wash and send carts to appropriate areas.
  • Checks all instruments for quality and quantity.
  • Assembles instruments and wraps appropriately for sterilization.
  • Follows all safety procedures and follows IFU (instructions for use).
  • Loads the sterilizer in a manner conducive to the best sterilization process, and as they are ready for sterilization.
  • Completes the appropriate biological testing for sterilizers.
  • Documents appropriately.
  • Maintain standards of service excellence and set a positive example for all surgical staff, patients, families and visitors.
Required Skills and Experience:
  • HS Diploma or equivalent experience
  • NO CERTIFICATION REQUIRED - must be obtain Sterile Processing Certification within 1 year of employment
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to left 25lbs
Location and Travel Requirements:
  • Onsite at our Schuyler Hospital Campus
  • Full Time - As scheduled between 7am and 6pm - Monday - Friday
Pay Range Disclosure:
  • Uncertified Candidates eligible for $16.00 to $23.00 per hour plus benefits
  • Certified Candidates eligible for $20.00 - $26.00 per hour plus benefits
