We are hiring a Sterile Processing Technician at Midwest Surgical Hospital (MSH), in this role, you will assist the OR management in the delivery of optimum quality care to the patients wile in the Operating Room Environment. Salary range starts at $20/hour and is built out based on experience. Sign-On Bonus of $5000!Responsibilities:
- Coordinate all instruments within the OR and assist the Surgical Technicians with instrument needs.
- Check instruments for cleanliness and proper function in SPD department. Send in instruments for repair, as needed, and ensure they are returned.
- Verify that all required instruments and supplies are available, the sets to be used are complete, with no necessary items missing prior to the incision.
- Create and maintain an aseptic surgical environment in the SPD department.
- Coordinate with OR management to ensure proper equipment/supplies/instruments are available for individual cases.
- Clean and return to the proper location, all specialty instruments and equipment used during the day's cases prior to the end of the shift.
- Oversee and assist OR personnel with the decontamination, inspection and preparation for terminal sterilization instruments used during surgical procedures.
- Coordinate with other facilities on an exchange basis for instrumentation and equipment with return follow-up, wrapping of instrumentation sets and correct labeling of all instrumentation.
- Verify completion of all instrument sets after sterilization process.
- Share responsibility of daily autoclave verification standards and recording of information with other MSH staff.
- Assist OR management with the purchase of new instrumentation, as needed, to meet new physicians' demands. Obtain OR Manager approval for all purchases.
- Organize instruments/supplies in clean receiving/labeling of instruments.
- Assist with the direction of floating Surgical Technologists to help in the SPD department and keep Nurse Managers informed.
- Responsible for notification of representatives, regarding the completion/stocking of specialty need equipment.
- Inform OR Manager of new representatives and their products. Must direct new representatives to OR management.
- Serve as a resource to other staff for SPD equipment.
- Responsible for keeping an accurate and updated list of instrument sets.
- Coordinate incoming instrumentation and implants with the sales representative to ensure complete sets and consistency with the usage of implants.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED, required.
- 1-3 years' of related experience in healthcare, required. OR and supply chain experience, preferred.
- SPD certification, preferred. Current BLS, preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Pull from job description
- Knowledge of anatomy and operative procedures.
- Knowledge of the basic principles to perform BLS and aware of the policy and procedures in an emergency or cardiac arrest situation within the unit.
- Knowledge in the care, handling, and operations of the equipment in SPD.
- Must have the ability to work quickly and in an orderly fashion.
