Job Type Full-timeDescriptionDepartment: Surgery Reports To: Clinical Director FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Salary: $21 - $25 DOE Schedule: Monday - Thursday, 7 AM - 5:30 PMPOSITION SUMMARY: Assists the OR staff in the organization and daily function of the operating room in accordance with established Federal, State and accreditation standards and Center policies and procedures. The Sterile Processing Technician (SPT) is responsible for ensuring the efficient and safe processing of surgical instruments and equipment to support optimal patient care. Adheres strictly to sterilization and disinfection protocols, contributing to a sterile and safe surgical environment. Key responsibilities include cleaning, disinfecting, and sterilizing instruments, maintaining accurate documentation, and ensuring compliance with safety and infection control procedures. Essential Functions:Clean, disinfect, and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment according to established protocols.Ensure instruments are maintained in optimal condition and prepared for use in surgical procedures.Assists in preparing the operating room for planned procedures and assists with room turn over.Maintain accurate records and documentation related to instrument processing activities.Ensure compliance with safety standards, infection control guidelines, and regulatory requirements.Must comply with HIPAA and OSHA Regulations and company confidentiality policies and procedures.Train and support new techniciansAuxiliary Functions:Responsible for stocking, cleaning and close.Collaborate closely with clinical leaders, registered nurses, and Operating Room (OR) staff to meet instrument needs and support surgical schedules.Maintain inventory of medical supplies and provide materials manager with order list.Monitor proper cleaning of surgical equipment including phaco, probe, instruments in the autoclave, etc.Other duties as assigned. RequirementsMinimum QualificationsHigh School diploma or GEDOne year of OR experience, Sterile Processing experience or completion of Sterile Processing certification preferred.One year of medical experience required.Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.Excellent communication skills to interact professionally with healthcare team members.Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.All employees must be able to provide proof of their identity and their right to work in the United States.Physical Requirements/Typical Working Conditions: Environment: Primarily a temperature-controlled facility.Work may require prolonged standing, some bending, stooping and stretching.Requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate surgical equipment, a keyboard, mouse, and standard office equipment.Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to communicate in person, by phone, or over video.Requires occasional lifting papers or boxes up to 50 pounds.Essential Physical Tasks:Sight - sufficient to adjust small instruments, read physical documents, and images on a computer monitor.Smell - sufficient to discern smoke/something burning, and other odors.Hear - sufficient to hold face to face/telephone/video call conversations, and to discern other ambient noises.Touch - sufficient to operate surgical equipment, keyboard, mouse, other standard office equipment, and writing implements.Physical Ability/Strength - sufficient to lift, twist, turn, reach, climb, kneel, squat, sit, walk, stand, bend as needed throughout a standard shift Salary Description $21-$25
