Position SummaryWe are seeking a hospitality focused and organized individual to join our team as a Steward Lead. Responsible for assisting the stewarding department to ensure the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, food storage areas, and all back-of-house operations. This role involves supporting the stewarding team, maintaining equipment, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards, and supporting the culinary and food and beverage teams. This role reports to the Executive Steward. Job Functions/Responsibilities
  • Support with the cleaning and sanitizing of all kitchen areas, equipment, and utensils.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of all back-of-house areas, including pantries, storerooms, and refrigeration units.
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations and sanitation standards.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits of kitchen and back-of-house areas.
  • Train staff on proper handling and use of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
  • Assist with developing and implementing safety procedures to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Work with the engineering and maintenance teams to address any facility issues promptly.
  • Collaborate with the culinary and food and beverage teams to ensure smooth operations.
  • Completes all assigned tasks in line with standards.
  • Reports for duty punctually, always wearing the correct uniform.
  • Undertakes all cleaning duties and any additional tasks, as directed by the kitchen management team.
  • Ensures all duties are completed within the required time frames.
  • Ensures kitchen waste is disposed of in a responsible manner and in line with company policy and local council regulations.
  • Cleans and washes pots & pans and other dishes in a careful manner to reduce breakages.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • A minimum of two to three years of experience in a related position is preferred.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and sanitation standards.
  • Exposure to hot, wet, and humid conditions, as well as cleaning chemicals and equipment.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work schedules as needed.
  • Supervisory experience in working with banquets is preferred.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Prior New York experience is preferred.
  • Bilingual in Spanish/English is preferred.
Physical Activities and Requirements of this Position
  • Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to move around the establishment, including walking, standing, to supervise operations
  • and assist guests as needed.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Flexibility to reach, bend, and stoop.
