SLO Ranch Market has partnered with Goat Farm Inc. to manage the hiring process of this position. ​

SLO Ranch Market is a new high end gourmet Market & Deli offering boutique gifts and unique kitchen wares, fine foods, as well as organic local produce and gourmet grocery goods. They are looking for a General Manager with an ownership mentality to oversee daily operations and help drive their market into the next phase. Their goal is to create a unique destination experience for both tourists and locals alike.

The General Manager position will require an individual to adapt the vision of the Market with their individual taste and an understanding of market layout/organization, teamwork, great customer service and leadership.

SLO Ranch Market is looking for a self-directed and motivated leader who is excited about operating and directing this Market as their own. The Market's vision is to highlight local vendors and artisans, creating an evolving inventory of interesting and unique items and gifts and delicious homemade bakery and deli items along with gourmet groceries, gifts and unique finds.

Some of the duties include, but are not limited to, training and scheduling of staff and team, finding and ordering products and keeping track of inventory, overseeing deli, merchandising products, ensure margins are met, running weekly and monthly reports, offering customers insight into retail goods they might find interesting, training their team and educating them about local offerings, stories and points of interest. Finding the right products in collaboration with buyers and stakeholders, operating a cash register with the understanding of adding inventory, SKUS, bar codes, stocking shelves, keeping displays full, re-ordering product, rotating product and keeping the market clean and fresh. Establishing operational efficiencies and working directly with the Deli manager to drive the success of both the Market and the Deli. In addition, the General Manager will need to resolve customer complaints if they arise, delegate tasks, handle incoming cash for deposits, ensure reporting is accurate for the accounting department and to ensure the safety of their employees and customers.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Greet customers, develop relationship with regulars, provide them with item information and direct them to the item's location in the store
  • Control inventory and inform procurement managers in case of low inventory
  • Perform stocking duties and delegating stock needs to market staff. Duties may include lifting, rotating products, ordering, dusting
  • Accurately input SKUS both unit price and retail price
  • Supervise cleanliness and maintenance duties around the store
  • Receive grocery item deliveries and confirm the accuracy of both order/invoice
  • Oversee daily price changes and manage cash register and cashiers as required
  • Manage the store in everyday functions to ensure the business runs smoothly and any other duties assigned by the Operations Manager
  • Learn, Run & operate Square POS
  • Manage and implement opening and closing procedures
  • Managing & scheduling staff, hiring as needed
  • Must be able to work weekends

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Experience working in a boutique or market environment in a leadership role
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Basic math and computation skills
  • 4 years or more of experience as Retail Store Manager or a related position
  • Open availability to service the needs of the customers and manage the market
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with customers and store staff
  • Attention to detail is a must on tracking items progress from delivery to final sale
  • Ability to operate as a team leader to empower employees in the daily operations
  • Ability to accept supervisory training related to performance, attitude and work habits
  • Ability to perform strenuous physical duties like lifting, climbing, walking, & standing for long periods
  • Excellent organization skills
  • Ability to exercise patience when dealing with customers
  • First-hand knowledge on purchasing wholesale gift, grocery and specialty items
  • Food Handler's Certificate preferred

Expected salary range: $70,000 - $75,000 + Bonus

Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience
