The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) is dedicated to protecting and promoting the health of Virginia. The VDH is made up of statewide Central Office in Richmond and 35 local health districts.
As part of the Virginia Department of Health, Hampton, and Peninsula Health Districts (HPHD) are two health districts serving the residents of the Cities of Hampton, Newport News, Poquoson, Williamsburg, and the Counties of James City, and York.

Supports distribution and storage by receiving, reviewing, correcting and filling orders for bulk supplies ordered by health departments, central office programs, and/or federally funded community health centers. Determines if ordered quantities are sufficient, recommends when inventory or non-inventory items must be ordered, tracks special orders for timeliness and repackages and re-labels items to assist work units. Works under limited supervision.
Supervisor provides guidance with difficult problems, when a major task or procedure is to be implemented, and when errors are made, or a deadline is missed. Independent actions include scheduling monthly inventory of expendable supplies, ordering stock replenishment, filling requisitions, maintaining a record of all distribution activity, and preparing and submitting required reports.
Minimum Qualifications
* Knowledge of state policies & procedures involved with the procurement of
services, equipment, inventory management, distribution and storage of bulk
products, shipping and handling guidelines, and facilities by contract or lease
* Must be physically capable of unloading, unpacking & storing supplies and
equipment
* Proficient with Microsoft Office Word, Excel and Outlook Email; ability to
maintain accurate databases and financial and/or inventory management
software
* Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with a wide range of staff and
community partners; excellent written and verbal communication skills
Additional Considerations
* Virginia Contracting Associate certification preferred
