ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON TOWN BENEFITS CAN BE FOUND IN THE BENEFITS SECTION AT THE TOP OF THE PAGE.Performs difficult technical work in the implementation and enforcement of the Town's stormwater program and NPDES Phase II permit. Work in this class is highly technical and requires a high degree of independence and initiative. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Stormwater Engineering Manager. Examples of Duties
  • Reviews construction drawings and calculations for compliance with Town stormwater standards and NPDES Phase II permit; prepares conditions of plan approval and negotiates directly with design engineers and other design professionals to provide an acceptable design.
  • Coordinates project approvals with various State and Town agencies.
  • Coordinates field activities and designs changes with the consultants and contractors.
  • Reviews easement documents.
  • Develops and maintains the Stormwater Program's GIS databases and ArcGIS online account.
  • Publishes relevant maps and data to the public; provides mapping and GIS support to the department.
  • Assists in preparation of bid documents and manages the bid process for rehabilitation and capital projects as assigned.
  • Performs construction observation for projects.
  • Performs design calculations, analysis and formulate ideas for addressing civil engineering problems.
  • Provides design and construction observations for projects such as storm sewer line replacement and extension, and stormwater facility conversions and retrofits.
  • Assists in the development and distribution of project information to general public.
  • Reviews requests for deviation from the standards of the Unified Development Ordinance and submits information and recommendation.
  • Performs variety of duties related to implementation of the Town's Stormwater Program and NPDES Phase II permit.
  • Investigates citizen complaints and concerns regarding erosion, drainage, flooding, etc.
  • Provides stream buffer determination calls for compliance with Riparian Buffer regulations.
  • Coordinates compliance with flood damage prevention regulations.
  • Assists in the review of third party plans.
  • Performs related duties as required.
Typical QualificationsThorough knowledge of the principles and practices of civil engineering as applied to land development; thorough knowledge of stormwater systems and design; thorough knowledge of the rules and regulations related to stormwater; ability to work with GIS mapping and perform data analysis; ability to inspect projects for compliance with ordinance and code provisions; ability to perform difficult engineering computations and to make comprehensive recommendations on engineering problems; ability to design facilities; ability to manage engineering projects; ability to present technical information and communicate ideas effectively both orally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with officials, associates, land developers, property owners and the general public. Supplemental Information?Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor of science degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field, with some experience in stormwater design, inspection, construction and maintenance.
