Job Description: IBSS seeks a full-time Strategic Communications Specialist to support the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and the Office of Administrative Services (OAS).The Office of Director of the Office of Administrative Services (OAS) provides the leadership, policies, programs, services, and systems necessary to meet the administrative support needs of the United States Patent and Trademark Office workforce. This includes designing innovative and effective strategies and policies for a broad range of initiatives in security, safety, and health, space and facilities management, IT asset management, and employee and office services.The Strategic Communications Specialist will lead the development and implementation of communication strategies that raise awareness of key initiatives.Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and implementation of strategic communications designed to promote and raise awareness of initiatives among a variety of audiences, internal and external to the organization.
- Create and make updates to organization-wide messaging and communications in a variety of formats.
- Consult, assist, develop, review and/or edit, formal presentations, briefing materials, and training materials in required and proper format for all audiences.
- Provide graphic and infographic support and assist OAS in incorporating such into messaging and communications in various formats.
- Ensure the consistency of content, language, and tone for all deliverables.
- Conceptualize and develop a wide variety of informational materials.
- Collect, review, edit, and/or draft information and articles within the Office of Administrative Services (OAS) to be posted on the PTOWeb home intranet page.
- Develop communication plans and assist with execution, tracking, and reporting.
- Plan, develop, and schedule communication project timelines.
- Track communication deliverables using appropriate tools.
- Monitor and report on the progress of deliverables to all stakeholders.
- Present reports defining communication plan progress, problems, and solutions.
- Track project progress to meet customers' deadlines.
- Communicate throughout the project and inform the client of unexpected delays or if changes in the scope will delay the desired delivery date.
Required Skills /Education/ Certifications & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, English, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in strategic communications, public relations, or a related discipline.
- Experience in developing and executing communication strategies for a variety of audiences.
- Strong background in content creation, including writing, editing, and graphic design.
- Familiarity with digital communication tools and platforms, including intranet management and presentation tools.
- Ability to manage multiple communication projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field is a plus.
- Experience working within a government or federal agency setting is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite) and communication tracking tools.
