The Vice President in the Strategy and Business Transformation Practice will work closely with Managing Directors and Senior Vice Presidents on client engagements, providing strategic and financial-related services to our clients. In short order, the successful candidate will be expected to lead client engagements with minimal oversight. The Vice President will be fully capable of presenting to senior management teams and boards and be able to drive the organization to decisions around critical issues, simultaneously managing multiple client engagements with a variety of staff.Responsibilities include:
Demonstrating a detailed understanding of the health care industry (including historic and contemporary issues pertaining to providers, payment and policy) with the ability to communicate complicated concepts to a variety of clients. Leading the development of Kaufman Hall assignments including research on the evolving nature of specific markets, development of enterprise wide strategies for health systems, assessment of growth strategies and strategic options in consolidating markets, and creation of service distribution plans. Creating analytical frameworks to support key questions facing our clients including assessment of organizational positioning across key dimensions such as quality, cost, access and competitive positions. Providing excellent project management to ensure successful outcomes from both Kaufman Hall and our clients' perspectives. Expanding thought leadership at Kaufman Hall and within the healthcare industry through the creation of intellectual capital. Fully comprehending the Kaufman Hall business model. Playing a key role in the professional development of Kaufman Hall staff, particularly in the strategy practice - ranging from Analyst, Associate, Senior Associate, and Assistant Vice President, and leading their success and outcomes on engagements. Support and lead other internal projects as directed.QualificationsIn addition, the successful candidate will possess the following: 10 + years of experience in a consulting role focused on the healthcare provider market. Ability to manage a diverse set of projects including organizational planning, partnership evaluation, physician strategy, etc. Understand and communicate key elements of a health system's financial position and performance. Strong facilitation skills both within organizations (e.g., with Board, management, and physician leaders) and across organizations (e.g., partnership discussions among multiple entities). Excellent analytical skills and the ability to develop and evaluate business and financial projections. Demonstrable project management experience in a fast-paced environment. Ability to manage 3-5 simultaneous engagements within the practice. Excellent presentation and communication skills at the senior executive and board levels. Solid technical and analytical computer skills, including excellent Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel software skills. Willingness to travel approximately 50% of the time. - Travel Required: Moderate - could be 50-75% of the time.
- The role is ideally based in Chicago (hybrid) but we are open to candidates in other cities.
- Work is regularly performed in a combination of office, home office, and client settings and routinely uses standard office equipment.
