Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach, the Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach will be responsible for the development and implementation of strength, speed, and conditioning programs for designated sports. This person will support the Eastern New Mexico University weight facility and be responsible for daily upkeep, exercise demonstration, and enhancement of the Athletic Department culture. The coach will interact and correspond with Head Coaches about the programs designed for their teams. The coach will be available to help the athletic training staff as needed, particularly in the development of student-athletes and teams in sports, of ENMU Greyhound athletics.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Maintain knowledge and rules of the NCAA in all aspects as it relates to this position
* Develop and implement strength, speed, and conditioning programs for all assigned intercollegiate athletic teams and associated ENMU sports
* Monitor the Eastern New Mexico University Weight Training facility
* Interact and correspond with Head Coaches about the strength and conditioning program for their teams
* Conduct fall and spring testing of all athletes
* Keep accurate and up-to-date records of athletes in database
* Design summer workout plans and schedules
* Supervise and monitor student-athletes while using facility
* Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of equipment
* Keep a monthly inventory of equipment in weight room
* Coordinate Weight Training Facility schedules for respective teams
* Coordinate maintenance/replacement schedule of equipment with Director of Athletics and Head Strength Coach
* Coordinate in-season lifting sessions with players and coaches
* Meet with coaches to discuss sport and player specific needs and design strength and conditioning programs accordingly
* Communicate with athletic training staff regarding athlete limitations and adjust workouts accordingly.
* Assist athletic training staff as needed to support the student-athletes and teams whose care you are responsible for
* Advise coaches on pre-game and pre-practice protocols as well as post-activity needs.
* Perform other duties as assigned
* Comply with all NCAA and Lonestar Conference rules and regulations
Minimum Job Requirements:
* A Bachelor's degree is required
* Possess a certification through a nationally recognized strength and conditioning organization
* A valid New Mexico Driver's License or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment if required to operate a school vehicle
Physical Demand and Working Conditions:
* Work is performed on a 12-month contract
* Work is performed during normal business hours but will include evening and weekend hours and requires occasional travel
* Work is active in nature; the ability to monitor and demonstrate appropriate skills, lifts, and techniques is essential and may require exerting a minimum of 50lbs of force occasionally.
* Work is, but is not limited to: sitting, standing, lifting, reaching, squatting, climbing, kneeling, carrying, and moving equipment/boxes up to 50lbs.
