The mission of Family Support Services is to be the leader in providing safety, stability, and quality of life for all children by working with the community to strengthen the family unit.Job Summary:The STEPS Family Advocate will provide crisis intervention and help stabilize the crisis, which will prevent the removal of child(ren) from the home. This position will conduct face-to-face contact with the family each week and will do follow-up after the services are in place with the family. This position is a direct service personnel.Essential Duties:
  • Conducts interviews with the families to identify strengths, needs, and general household information.
  • Links at-risk families with services and assists in obtaining referrals.
  • Conducts in-home services; parenting, behavior modification, conflict resolution, crisis intervention, transportation, money management, life skills, case management, and education on community resources.
  • Provides regular contact with families by performing home visits.
  • Documents all case activity, demographic information, and contact with client.
  • Maintains a case file on each family with required documents and submits case files to supervisor for review within required timeframe.
  • Ensures progress is made in service provision and closes cases in a timely manner.
  • Other Duties As needed
QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:Education: Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a human services or related field required.Experience: One year of experience with at-risk children and families preferred.Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration: Valid drivers license.To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other Requirements:
  • Clear a Level II background screening
  • Clear a reference check
  • Clear a local background check from the County in which you reside
  • Clear a substance abuse screen
  • Provide a copy of all degrees prior to your first day of employment
  • Clear a Motor Vehicles Records check and must be insurable under the company's automobile policy.
  • Provide copy of automobile insurance.
  • Provide proof of, and maintain a minimum personal auto liability insurance level $100,000/$300,000 if deemed to be a driving risk.
