Our client is a multinational aerospace and defense corporation that designs, develops, and manufactures aircraft engines, helicopter engines, spacecraft propulsion systems, and other aerospace and military equipment.A stress engineer is a professional who specializes in assessing the stresses on complex objects when in use. They work in fields such as the aerospace, nautical, and medical industries. Stress engineers play a crucial role in developing new machinery by ensuring that designs can safely handle the rigors they will likely face.Provides leadership for the Stress Engineering group within the Engineering Department, supporting ongoing and future company programs. ResponsibilitiesEnsures adherence to schedule, budget and quality by program requirements.Effectively leads and manages a team of Stress Engineers, organizing them to substantiate aircraft designs and generate substantiation documents acceptable to the FAA.Responsible for recruiting, hiring, training, and evaluating staff. Makes recommendations, and initiates promotions, transfers, and disciplinary action.Conducts 1: 1 discussions, annual performance reviews, mid-year reviews, and salary adjustments.Sets the quality standard for the engineering department and ensures processes are established and standards are met for their specific discipline.Coaches, trains, and mentors a team of Stress Engineers to keep all team members working efficiently. Develops analytical tools, databases, and workflow procedures to streamline and optimize project support.Works closely and constructively with other departments within the company to gain consensus on the best plan for addressing each engineering issue requiring stress team input.Communicate clearly with the engineering team, other departments, and vendors to facilitate the smooth substantiation of C-company designs.Prepares meeting materials and presents the status of the program s structural substantiation required to keep all parties informed of progress. Gains team consensus and leads the structural substantiation package to completion.Creates structural substantiation plans, prepares staffing plans, anticipates critical path issues, and sets a schedule to meet program schedules and budgets. Assists with bids and estimations of costs for new programs. Education, Experience & CertificationBachelor's degree (B.S.) in Civil, Mechanical, or Aeronautical Engineering; minimum eight years of industry experienceMinimum of 4 years experience successfully leading a team of engineers, including a proven track record of effective team building and talent development or equivalent combination of education and experience. Aerospace background required.Ability to motivate, coach, and manage a team, including conducting annual performance reviews.Knowledge of aircraft interiors and drawing development, installation, and FAA requirements.Working knowledge of 14 CFR Part 25 Regulations concerning Aircraft Structures, Interiors, Materials, Mechanical Systems, and Payload Systems.Working knowledge of industry-accepted Finite Element Program, NASTRAN.Working knowledge of classical hand analysis of aircraft structural components and assemblies.Working knowledge of accepted design and substantiation practices and solutions in the Aircraft Industry. Proficient with Microsoft Office applications. Excellent technical, conceptual, and financial skills required.Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.Ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with abstract and concrete variables.Ability to travel as required
