Job DetailsJob LocationTyler Office - Tyler, TXDescriptionPOSITION SUMMARY The Structural Designer is responsible for performing structural analysis, design tasks and engineering modeling assignments for a variety of building types, sizes and materials as well as assisting project teams on assignments ranging from conceptual design to final construction documentation to construction administration. Work is closely managed and reviewed for accuracy and adequacy. Follows specific, outlined, and detailed directions.Provides resolution to problems that are readily identifiable with limited scope and are resolved in accordance with standard practices, procedures, applications or routines.Problem/Task resolution timeframe: The majority of tasks typically take one to two days to resolve.Contacts are primarily with direct supervisors and others in group or department to give and receive information. - Works closely with a member of the team to enhance knowledge and skillset.
- Learns and implements the Company's Best Practices for projects and processes.
- Assist on simple structural designer concepts with oversight from a mentor.
Structural Designer IV
- Works closely with member of the team and assist to complete projects in a timely manner.
- Implements and utilizes the Company's Best Practices for projects and processes.
- Checks models for clearances, potential conflicts, and relationships of the carious parts to the whole and to one another.
Structural Designer III
- Preparing structural drawings.
- Utilize Structural Designer software to provide materials quantities and other related task.
- Performs structural analysis and design for various structural materials including, steel, concrete, and concrete masonry. [JW3]
Structural Designer II
- Prepares detail and layout drawings of unusual, complex, or original designs requiring the application of theoretical and practical engineering knowledge that will be clearly understood in the field during construction.
- Provides other design personnel with design sketches for preparation of finished designed drawings, general layouts, and guidance in refining techniques.
- Must keep up to date on the latest developments in constructability.
Structural Designer I
- Evolving knowledge of basic engineering principles, material properties, and a familiarity with construction, installation, and maintenance procedures.
- May provide conceptual input to projects during the planning stages.
- Performs other related tasks in support of project engineer, such as writing sequence of construction procedures, compiling and computing engineering data, estimating, etc.
QualificationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS PER JOB LEVEL
- Structural Designer Intern - Currently enrolled in Tech/Trade school.
- Structural Designer IV - Tech/Trade school.
- Structural Designer III - Tech/Trade school or equivalent; two (2) years of experience.
- Structural Designer II - Tech/Trade school or equivalent; four (4) years of experience.
- Structural Designer I - Technical/Trade or equivalent; six (6) years of experience.
