Job Description:

We are a minority and woman owned business and we work on a variety of projects in Central Texas and beyond. The Structural Project Engineer position will provide the structural support for high profile projects like the Austin Convention Center, ABIA airport expansion, K-12 and higher education building projects and other commercial, municipal, and adaptive reuse building projects.

This role will work under the guidance of a Sr. Project Manager. The ideal candidate should be able to evaluate, select, specify, and engineer all engineered systems or products for a project. A Structural Project Engineer will perform a variety of tasks which includes Revit design, calculations, construction document review, and field work.

Duties:

  • Review shop drawings and submittals, respond to requests for information, prepare site observation reports, and perform other contract administration tasks.
  • Development of a design through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats for steel, concrete, masonry, and wood framed structures.
  • Utilize BIM in development of three-dimensional models of building's structural systems and provides markups for junior engineers/designers.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines (architectural, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, civil, etc.) to ensure compatibility with the design intent.
  • Prepares and revises construction documentation in various structural phases including foundation plans, framing plans, diagrams, and details.
  • Lead project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants.
  • Participates in meetings with owners and contractor, sub-contractors, and vendors.
  • Assist Sr. Project Managers with developing and managing project scopes, budgets, staffing and schedule.
  • Perform and oversee the performance of calculations using company standard software, and proprietary manufacturer software.
  • Conduct quality assurance and quality control on own projects.
  • Assist in the development of new standards and specifications for the structural group.
  • All duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of structural material design codes, standards, and applicable building codes.
  • Understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications.
  • Knowledge of structural systems means and methods, materials, and industry standards.
  • Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.
  • Thorough understanding of structural engineering concepts and ability to effectively communicate ideas to others.
  • Advanced oral and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of Microsoft Office Suite, Revit; Prefer experience with Structural Component Design Software, Comprehensive Building Analysis Software, and Structure Finite Element Analysis such as Tekla, RAM concept, and Risa 3D.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Civil, Structural or Architectural Engineering is required.
  • Master's Degree in Structural Engineering with 4 years of experience required or 6+ years of experience and Licensed Professional Engineer.
