Job Description Reporting into the Director of Engineering and part of a wider team, the Structural Engineer role offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact in the evolving field of overhead line solutions. This position allows you to take a leadership role in the design and development of cutting-edge composite insulated systems, driving innovation in line compaction and upgrades. Your contributions will directly shape the future of the industry, as you continuously enhance and optimize solutions to keep them ahead of market trends. Main duties and responsibilities include the following:
  • Lead the structural design of transmission lines up to 420 kV, taking projects from conceptual design through to completion and/or construction.
  • Innovate and refine transmission line designs with composite line posts, braced line posts, focusing on optimizing geometry, load-strength coordination, and overall efficiency.
  • Develop comprehensive transmission line solutions, including detailed drawings, reports, and cost estimates for monopole and lattice tower designs.
  • Ensure compliance with structural code requirements while incorporating the latest industry standards.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver cost-effective designs that meet client expectations and maintain competitiveness.
  • Stay current with technical standards and codes, ensuring that all designs reflect the best practices in the field.

The Successful Applicant In return for a competitive remuneration package, the successful candidate will possess the following:
  • Bachelor's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering.
  • 8+ years of experience in PLS TOWER and transmission line engineering within North America.
  • Expertise in designing with composite line posts, braced line posts, and insulated cross-arms.
  • Demonstrated ability to optimize transmission line projects, with a focus on cost-effective solutions.
  • Knowledge of all phases of transmission line projects up to 420 kV, from planning and design through procurement and execution.
