Job Description
W.F. Baird & Associates is seeking a structural engineer (PE or SE) with concrete and steel design experience in ports, ferry terminals, bulkheads, sea walls/ flood walls, dams/spillways/fish ladders, and/or floodgates.
** Fundamental Job Responsibilities:**
- Design waterfront/ marine structures and pile foundations including design details
- Preparation of 100% plans and specifications using CAD staff
- Technical oversight of junior engineers and drafters
- Editing of project descriptions for SOQs in response to RFQs on occasion
Qualifications: Qualifications
** Minimum Qualifications:**
- Three (3) years of experience focused on design of structures
- PE or SE registration
- Bachelor or Master's degree including steel and concrete design classes
- The ability to analyze and design as an individual contributor. The ability to create concrete and steel drawings and details (manually or by CAD) and to perform analyses in SAP2000 or a similar FE program. Experience with deep foundations and retaining walls (or bulkheads or cofferdams)
- Professional report-writing skills including self-proofreading
- Use of codes and standards for structural engineering
- Willingness to travel for work on occasion
** Preferred Qualifications:**
- Experience with geotechnical and structural engineering software, including EnSoft software products (e.g. LPILE, APILE, Group), sheet pile design, mooring analysis, and P-M diagram generation
- Experience with codes and standards beyond IBC and ASCE 7 e.g. EM, API, PIANC, AASHTO
- Geotechnical engineering coursework or experience related to deep foundations or sheet pile bulkheads
- Seismic design/analysis including dynamic earth pressure calculations using Mononobe-Okabe
- Preferred locations for position: NYC, Houston, Madison (WI), or Portland (OR)/Vancouver (WA)
