Our specialized experience includes design for data centers, healthcare, science and technology, high-rise buildings, clean energy, education, and other building types as well as structural and building sciences, infrastructure asset management, advanced robotics, and more.Job Summary:Our Austin, Dallas or New Orleans office is seeking a Structural Engineer-In-Training for full-time employment. Applicants should have at least 2 years of industry experience, be purpose-driven and indicate a strong interest in developing technical, production and managerial skills.In this role, you will:Project•Execute the structural engineering tasks assigned or as otherwise directed bysenior engineering staff•Assist in development of structural drawings, Revit models and reports•Assist project team in applying building code provisions and interpretingmaterial design standards•Maintain awareness of the production schedule for responsible task(s)•Review completed tasks at key intervals for accuracy and completeness•Perform administration tasks during the construction of a project as assignedby senior engineering staff including submittal review and responses to field questions•Assist in communicating with other disciplines and project team members toensure overall project coordination•Participate in team and company-wide meetings to discuss project issues,coordination with other disciplines and technical issuesPrinciples•Performs work in a manner that demonstrates an appreciation for the firm'scultural values, including a commitment to quality, innovation, learning andrespect for co-workers and colleagues•Becomes skilled in fostering and maintaining a collaborative professionalworking relationship with the project team•Fosters awareness of the firm's principles of providing outstanding professionalservice to our clients•Demonstrates strong interest in sustainability in the construction industryFinancial•Develops familiarity with project budgets and fees•Develops understanding of the financial implications of overhead andchargeable timeRevenue or Opportunity Generation•Fosters awareness of the importance of growing and maintaining clientrelationships and the basic concept of business developmentRequired Experience:•Accredited BS or MS degree in Civil, Structural or Architectural Engineering•On the path to professional engineering licensure; EIT certification required•2 years of relevant experience in a similar role•Ability to learn structural analytical software•Ability to communicate in a clear, concise and professional manner both verbally and in writing•Ability to problem solve and collaborate on innovative solutions•Ability to work in team environment•Ability to work on multiple projects at the same time•Ability to effectively meet deadlines at expected qualityDesired Skills:•Experience with Revit preferred•Proficiency in MS Office Suite preferredLocation: Austin or Dallas, TX or New Orleans, LA - HybridTravel to out-of-town projects or meetings may be required.Equal Opportunity Employment StatementSalas O'Brien provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state/provincial, or local laws.
