Restoration Engineer

An exciting opportunity awaits a talented Restoration Engineer to join my clients' growing team. The company specializes in innovative solutions for a wide range of restoration and historic preservation projects across New York City. From affordable housing developments to luxury towers, and from landmarked buildings to iconic architectural treasures, they take pride in tackling diverse challenges through all project phases, from initial planning to construction administration. They foster a collaborative environment where team members take ownership of their projects and work closely with building owners, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies such as the Department of Buildings (DOB).

Role Responsibilities

  • Oversee multiple major restoration projects across NYC's five boroughs.
  • Conduct inspections and prepare reports for façade, roof, plaza, and garage repair projects.
  • Perform Local Law 11/Façade Inspection Safety Program (FISP) reporting, including site inspections, condition assessments, and preparing findings for DOB submissions.
  • Conduct building inspections from various vantage points, such as ground level, roofs, lifts, and scaffolding (supported and suspended).
  • Provide structural design solutions for restoration and renovation projects.
  • Prepare technical plans, details, and specifications.
  • Lead contractor bid walkthroughs and evaluate bids.
  • Review contractor payment applications, change orders, and project schedules.
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients and stakeholders to identify new business opportunities.
  • Prepare scopes of work and estimate time/staff resources for proposals.

Role Requirements

  • 2–8 years of related experience in restoration engineering.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience with Local Law 11/FISP compliance (required).
  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (required); a Master's degree is preferred.
  • Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification (required); Professional Engineer (PE) licensure is preferred.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Excel.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Hands-on experience in New York City projects.
