Job Description:

A structural steel inspector will perform welding and bolting inspections on steel structures erected on the construction site. The structural steel / welding inspector will be inspecting the structure for conformance with construction plans, specifications, approved drawings, and industry standards. Ultrasonic Testing of welding experience required. Equipment provided. The structural steel / welding inspector will communicate his/her findings with the construction management team.

General Responsibilities:

Perform inspections on structural steel relating to bolting, connections, and welding on construction sites according to construction drawings, specs, AWS, AISC, and ASNT standards.

Report findings to construction management team

Climb ladders & operate lifts to perform inspections

Neatly and accurately complete all required paperwork, including daily reports, test reports and timesheets – in a timely manner

Requirements

*CWI (Certified Welding Inspector) certification or ICC Structural Steel & Bolting certification OR the ability to obtain one of these certifications within 6 months of employment based on working knowledge. Will pay for employee certification upon completion.

Valid drivers license.

OSHA 10 hour certificate (can obtain during employment

Knowledge about welding practices and relevant experience

Ultrasonic Testing Experience

Familiarity with Ultrasonic, Magnetic Particle, Liquid Penetrant Testing, & other NDT

Experience reading and understanding construction documents.

Willingness to travel throughout Western Massachusetts. (Paid)

Work in construction environment ALL months of the year.

1+ years related experience

Compensation

Full Time or Part Time available. Paid mileage or vehicle provided. Paid Time off. 401k with company match. Flexible hours, Medical Insurance plans w/ company contribution. Testing equipment provided.

Hourly Pay is negotiable based on experience
