Job Description Job Posting: Structural Steel Fitter/Fabricator
Location: Gibsonton, FL-4 day work week 10 hour shift Job Type: Full Time Summary: We are currently seeking a skilled Structural Steel Fitter/Fabricator to join our team in Gibsonton, Florida. The ideal candidate will be responsible for fabricating various types of weldments within the structural steel, bridge, and storage tank industry. Familiarity with codes such as D1.1, D1.5, ASME, and API is essential. Essential Functions:
- Adherence to all TTI/FSS Company and OSHA Safety Policies
- Interpretation of structural steel fabrication drawings for weldment fabrication
- Understanding and application of weld symbols; ability to perform layouts on structural steel materials for cutting and fabrication
- Proficiency in the use of grinders, squares, tape measures, torches, plasma cutters, and other hand and power tools common in the structural fabrication/fitting industry
Additional Duties:
- Willingness to take on additional responsibilities as required to support company operations
Quality Standards:
- Ability to read and understand drawings, codes, and specifications
- Ensure compliance with established fabrication procedures
- Maintenance of work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition
- Ability to work in an open-air environment under various weather conditions
- Physically demanding job requiring prolonged standing, stooping, bending, lifting, and reaching
Teamwork:
- Essential to maintain a positive attitude and work effectively with all staff
- Participation in Safety meetings and adherence to all PBS safety processes and procedures
Qualifications:
- Exceptional performance in each essential duty, representing the company professionally
- Successful completion of a standard tack test using FCAW and GMAW processes
- Proficiency in standard beveling, coping, notching, and weld joint preparation
Education and/or Experience:
- High School Diploma
- 2+ years of verifiable experience in structural steel fabrication (Required)
- Preferred experience in bridge and storage tank fabrication
Language Skills:
- Effective and professional communication with co-workers, other departments, and managers
Reporting:
- This position will report directly to their assigned Foreman and Shop Superintendent.
