In this role, you will communicate with current and past Tiffin students to identify and reconcile outstanding balances. Building and maintaining relationships with students to successfully resolve any outstanding debt owed to the University and to provide answers and clarification to any questions they may have. These outstanding balances may pertain to tuition, room, board, or fees. This position requires working well with other departments within Tiffin University to provide exceptional customer service to students and families. Responsible for maintaining compliance with all federal, state, and institutional regulations related to student accounts.RequirementsMAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Call, email, and mail letters to students to collect outstanding funds or to set up sustainable repayment plans.
- Utilize systems to negotiate balance-in-full payments, payment arrangements, or legal referrals.
- Employ effective skip-tracing techniques to locate borrowers' current residence and contact information.
- Maintain the highest level of accuracy and detail when documenting accounts and communicating with borrowers.
- Oversees and provides customer service pertaining to student financial services including updating information, composing and scheduling communications. Operate with a professional demeanor with the ability to interface with internal and external customers with diplomacy and tact.
- Meet or exceed all daily, weekly, and monthly quality and collection goals.
- Prepares various reports for the University/Cabinet/Provost/President and other internal and external entities.
- Process payments and post adjustments to student accounts in a timely manner.
- Assist in generating and reviewing student account bills, ensuring accuracy of charges and payments.
- Assist with the management of payment plans and ensure compliance with university policies.
- Reporting account findings to supervisors and other parties
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB Education:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field preferred.
Experience:
- Have at least 1-2 years of Consumer Collections experience preferred.
Other:
- Ability to type 40 WPM.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling financial data.
- Basic math skills and the ability to calculate interest and collection costs as needed.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Knowledge of accounting concepts, techniques, and principles.
- Strong computer skills.
- Strong listening skills.
- Strong communication, both written and verbal, and persuasion skills.
