Harcum College in Bryn Mawr, PA, a leader among the nation's independent, two year colleges, has an immediate opening for a Student Accounts Specialist. This position reports to the Director of Student Accounts. The Student Accounts Specialist provides specific expertise regarding student financial records, including billing services and financial aid functions within the Student Accounts area. This position plays a key role in ensuring that Student Accounts is in compliance with all institutional financial policies, federal regulations, and that the college's cash flow is properly managed. This position is responsible for resolving complex billing and financial aid issues, conferring with the Director of Student Accounts in the assessment of appeals and in depth analysis of reports to identify proactive measures needed to ensure the success of Student Accounts. The Student Accounts Specialist will be a leader in identifying methods to improve practices, processes and services from both a customer and institutional perspective.
Responsibilities: - Receive and apply cash, check, & credit card payments for tuition, fees, bookstore charges, all miscellaneous & student activity payments, and third-party sponsor payments, as well as process all general receipts college wide. Post electronic and payment plan payments.
- Post payments to the proper account (student or fiscal). Reconcile system session to ensure that all payments balance. Make copies of all documents needed to support daily deposits.
- Enter data for housing deposits and reconcile the housing deposit roster; process the housing deposit refunds.
- Posts payment by third party contract agreements to student accounts
- Process refunds for cancelled classes, withdrawals, financial aid, etc. Determine student's/third party's eligibility to receive excess funds.
- Verifies and closes other cashier daily sessions. Reconciles daily transactions between systems
- Process Outside Scholarships, and reconcile Outside Scholarship Funds at the end of each month
- Responds to in-person, phone and email inquiries and requests for account balances, account status and refund activities from students while implementing excellent customer service to all constituents.
- Assigns and removes financial holds on student accounts
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Skills: - An Associate's degree in Business or Accounting from an accredited college or university.
- Experience with PowerCampus a plus.
- Skilled in identifying the root cause of complex billing and financial aid issues.
- Ability to clearly communicate with all units of the Finance Office and the College community.
- Ability willingness to listen and turn issues into actionable outcomes.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced and deadline driven environment.
- Must be flexible, a team-player, have cultural sensitivity, and demonstrate initiative.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Advanced analytical problem solving skills.
- Must be a self-starter with a great degree of internal motivation.
