Non Bargaining UnitNon-ExemptBASIC FUNCTIONThe primary responsibility of this part time position is to assist the Director of Student Activities with planning and executing of campus wide events (i.e. orientations, homecoming/family weekend, weekly activities & events). Assist clubs with the use and management of their activities fee fund, maintaining bulletin boards, social media and other duties as assigned.Advise the SGA chapter at the Williston campus.Help to promote and encourage student involvement, connection and active participation in campus-based activities and club involvement.Serve as a resource, advisor, and student trainer for campus organizations including SGA, and clubs at Williston.This job will require working nights, weekends, and partial days.CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Making, printing, and putting up posters for upcoming events
- Creating and running SGA social media pages (Facebook and Instagram)
- Submitting room and van reservation requests
- Restocking student pantry items and organizing as needed
- Completing check requests for performers and events
- As needed, evening hours to assist with CAB events
- Filing club and organization paperwork in binders and other appropriate spaces
- Other duties as assigned
SUPERVISON RECEIVED General direction and supervision is received from the Assistant Director of Student ActivitiesSUPERVISION EXERCISED Undergraduate student interns and possibly student workersMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's Degree or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIESKnowledge:
- Understanding of educational goals and objectives of Vermont State University including attention to accessibility and diversity, equity and inclusion.
- Understanding or the psychological and cultural Characteristics of economically and educationally disadvantaged students in a rural setting.
- Awareness of developmental, holistic, and proactive approaches to student success.
Skills:
- Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with a diverse population of students, staff, faculty, community agencies, and organizations.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal.
- Good basic administrative and supervisory skills.
- Able to meet students where they are and ensure they feel listened to and they are comfortable working with advisor to navigate challenges and concerns as they come up.
- Experience with (or ability to learn) technologies such as Aviso, Colleague, Self-Service, Microsoft Office suite, Perceptive Content, PyraMed and Maxient.
- Proven record of accountability and follow-through with the ability to meet deadlines.
