All we need is you.The opportunitySouthern New Hampshire University is seeking a student employee to fill the role of Shelter Assistant for The Animal Rescue League of New Hampshire in Bedford, NH. The Animal Rescue League of New Hampshire (ARLNH) helps over 2000 animals a year. To achieve our mission, staff and volunteers work hard to care for our animals and help animals in need. Cleaning, laundry, and organizing are all tasks that happen daily for the shelter to run smoothly. Our shelter is a stopping point for our animals and we work hard to keep them happy and stress free. Learning behaviors and signs of stress are an important part of making that happen. Students will assist shelter staff in the day to day care of our animals to help make their stay at ARL as comfortable as possible.Job Responsibilities:
  • Daily shelter tasks, cleaning, and animal care activities during morning hours.
  • Assist with animal care and closing the building during evening hours.
  • Animal care related tasks include but are not limited to feeding the animals cleaning kennels, laundry, organizing and sorting donations.
  • Other tasks can also be assigned by ARLNH staff.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Current enrollment in classes as part of a SNHU degree program
  • Work study part of financial aid package
  • Students with work study may be prioritized
  • Reliable transportation
  • Must be comfortable with interacting with animals and on occasion the public.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Will learn day to day care of many different animals, learn organizational skills, effective communication, work independently and with a team
