A successful candidate will play an active role in FMU's academic programs and collaborate with staff and administration to ensure students and guests are provided with opportunities and services to help them succeed.
Essential Duties:
Students must maintain confidentiality when dealing with highly sensitive information. Responsibilities will include:
* Provide support office programs designed to develop students through programs that focus on personal/professional development, prevention, health and safety initiatives, multicultural competency, and organizational responsibilities.
* Develop programs and services for Black Male College Explorers Program (BMCEP) that augment academic opportunities for students in middle/high school and facilitate their efforts to complete high school, earn a college degree, find meaningful employment, or pursue graduate studies.
* Coordinate and assist in the implementation of premier events for the BMCEP.
* Assist with recruiting activities to ensure the quota is met for the BMCEP.
* Advise students in leadership development, program management, membership retention, community engagement, professional development, and wellness behaviors.
* Supervise and assist in the implementation and evaluation of programs, membership development, goal setting, problem-solving, and risk management.
* Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to fifty (50) pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.
* Performs miscellaneous and other job-related duties and responsibilities as required or deemed appropriate to the accomplishments of the responsibilities and functions of the BMCEP.

Qualifications
* FMU student with a 2.7 cumulative GPA or higher. High School diploma or GED with prior customer service or administrative experience. Must be currently enrolled with a minimum of six (6) credits as an Undergraduate student or three (3) credits as a Graduate student during the Fall and Spring semesters.
* Ability to make entry-level decisions and a willingness to ask questions.
* Demonstrate responsibility, initiative, timeliness, and the ability to work independently.
* Proficiency in MS Office Suite, as well as knowledge and understanding of the organizational structure, workflow, and operating procedures.
* Flexibility to work outside of normal business hours.
* Ability to take direction and work independently as needed.
* Technical Skills: knowledge of technology/office equipment and willingness to:
* learn new information systems and software; proficiency in the use of computer applications and MS Office Suite (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
