Job Description:

UAF Facilities Services Student Assistants often times perform tasks that require general physical activities; handling and moving objects, manual dexterity, physical coordination, strength, stamina, and working indoors or outdoors. Some office skills are also necessary for specific departments.

To thrive in this role, successful applicants will demonstrate:

Ability for independent judgment and decision-making.

Ability to provide excellent customer service at all times.

Ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, in a professional and courteous manner.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals and groups and to work successfully as a member of a team.

Ability to follow directions/instructions given by supervisors and co-workers.

Knowledge of basic phone skills and etiquette.

Ability to ensure accuracy with assigned tasks.

Ability to operate basic equipment.

Ability to file and track information.

Basic computer skills.

Regular attendance and timeliness.

Prior related experience or a strong interest in the trade/field is a plus! Applicants will need to have the ability to work in a physically demanding environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

To be eligible for Facilities Services student employment, an applicant must:

Be enrolled at UAF with a minimum of six credit hours in the current semester of employment; or

Have been enrolled the preceding semester for six or more credit hours and demonstrate plans to enroll for six or more credit hours in the next semester for employment between semesters; and

Have at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA, or a newly enrolled student.

Any combination of education and experience which clearly demonstrates the skills and abilities necessary to accomplish the essential functions of the job (see knowledge, skills, and abilities required above.)

Possess a valid driver's license and clean driving record in compliance with UA Safe Driving Criteria, not required for Custodial Department

Position Details:

This is a pooled position, which means that the position remains open over the entire academic year. Starting salary is $16.15/hour.
