Position Type: Support Staff/Student Assistant - School Age Child CareDate Posted: 1/10/2023Location: DistrictClosing Date: Until FilledUPPER ARLINGTON SCHOOL DISTRICT Position: School-Age Child Care Student Assistant Reports to: Site Supervisor Employment Status: Regular/Part-time FLSA Status: Non-exempt Rate of Pay: $11.00 Description: Responsible for assisting the supervisor and program aides in the care and nurturing of children in a safe and welcoming environment, implements activities and helps in carrying out the daily routine of the program. Hours: 2:30-5:30 PM school daysNOTE: The below lists are not ranked in order of importanceQualifications: Must 16 years of age and eligible to obtain a work permit Must be enrolled in the Upper Arlington City School District Must be a junior or senior with an appropriate school record Ability to provide a signed medical statement and fingerprints for a criminal records check Experience working with children preferred but not required Completion of SACC orientation and trainingRequired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to work effectively and positively with others Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively both orally and in writing Effective active listening skills Ability to manage children in small & large groups Can understand and identify the individual needs of children in the program and adapt expectations and practices accordingly Such alternatives to the above required knowledge skills and abilities as the Supervisor and/or Board of Education may find appropriateEssential Functions: Assists in conducting activities and special events Communicates with the other SACC members Assists in the snack preparation and serving Assists to keep supplies and equipment in order Daily set-up/clean-up of program Interacts positively, using constructive guidance in appropriate social interactions and expected standards of behavior Enforces SACC policy Serves as a positive role model for the children Encouraging children's participation in multiple program activities Greets and interacts with parents daily, sharing positive information about a child whenever possible Interacts with parents, children, school personnel, and SACC staff in a positive, professional, and cooperative manner; refer appropriate questions to the Site Supervisor Other Duties and Responsibilities: Ensure the safety and engagement of children in assigned activities Performs other duties as assigned Equipment Operated: Copy machine Calculator Computer/printer Telephone/cellular phone Projector TV Other office equipment as needed Additional Working Conditions: Possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and tissue Exposure to loud noises Interactions with unruly children Repetitive hand motion, e.g., computer keyboard, typing Interruption of duties by students, visitors, staff and/or telephoning Regular requirement to sit, stand, walk, talk, see , read, speak, reach, stretch with hands and arms, crouch, climb, kneel and stoop Employee shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance, use in the work place throughout his/her employment with the District.
