Job Summary:

STC is looking for student workers who want to gain experience working with agile and collaborative teams, receive training in advanced technologies, and learn the current strategic technology trends. If you are a self-starter, technically competent, and familiar with one of the subjects - Operating Systems, Networking, Web, Programming, Database, and Cloud, you will have an excellent opportunity to learn advanced concepts and skills through this position. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

STC:

* Work under supervision to help Program Directors, Program managers, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), and Instructors perform their duties.

* Tutor students one-on-one or in small groups. Mentor students and help them during lessons and after class in person, on the phone, or via video conferencing.

* Assist with managing instructional materials and Learning Management System (LMS) shells and resolve technology-related issues students experience in class.

* Convey knowledge and understanding of course material to students learning at different levels.

Site Support:

* Work with the IT department to gain basic knowledge to help with students' computer or network issues.

* Provide front desk coverage and customer service to students, instructors, and property management with other support staff.

* Ensure classrooms are open on time and equipment is operational and available. Ensure that classrooms are properly cleaned after all classes and events.

* Perform assigned administrative tasks, including word processing and spreadsheet.

Minimum Qualifications:

* Must be CityU students majoring in BS or MS degrees in the School of Technology and Computing. Must have three full quarters before graduation. Students who work full-time are not eligible. Taking no more than six credits per quarter is highly suggested.

* Ability to show a solid understanding of programming concepts in one of the following languages - JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, C++, Java, C#, Bash, and PowerShell.

* Ability to demonstrate high customer service, attention to detail, and organizational and problem-solving ability.

* Ability to perform job duties with minimal supervision, effectively prioritize work, multi-task, and adjust to changing workloads and deadlines.

* Ability to maintain a high level of discretion and confidentiality.

* Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.

* Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

* Ability to handle MS Office products, including Outlook and advanced Word, Excel, and SharePoint functions.

* Ability to learn other business software, including learning management systems.

* Ability to lead beginning-level technical workshops with diverse student, staff, and faculty populations.

* Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees

Hours:

This is a part-time (19.5 hours per week) student position.

Salary:

This position pays a minimum wage of $19.97 per hour.

On-campus requirement:

This position requires the student to work on campus for assigned schedules.
