Description The California State Teacher's Retirement System (CalSTRS) Information Technology (IT) Service Desk (SD) Unit is seeking to hire two Student Assistants. Under the supervision of the SD Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for performing a variety of duties in support of CalSTRS information technology systems. The service desk is the first point of contact for all IT services at CalSTRS. We are a diverse team and work in a fast-paced environment with new challenges every day. The Service Desk Student Assistant is the face of the service desk by providing excellent customer service. RequirementsConditions of Employment This is a part-time, temporary, non-benefited, student position. Employment in all positions with University Enterprises, Inc. is dependent upon the mutual consent of University Enterprises, Inc. and the employee. This means that either University Enterprises, Inc. or the employee can, at any time, terminate the employment relationship at will, with or without cause. Prerequisites Must be a college student attending classes during the regular term (fall, spring, and winter, if applicable) at an accredited college or university on our affiliation list. Students declared major must match the major(s) listed in the job posting. Majors/Fields of Study Computer Information Systems, Computer Science and Engineering Work Schedule Flexible workdays and work hours, Monday - Friday, between 8 AM - 5 PM. The final work schedule will be determined by the supervisor. Minimum Qualifications
  • Basic computer operating system troubleshooting skills (Windows 10, & Mac OSX).
  • Basic mobile device support skills iPhone Operating System (iOS).
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Organized and detail oriented with proven reliable work ethic.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively through email, telephone, instant messenger (IM), and in person.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous customer service or information technology experience.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide support for customer incidents, changes and requests from email/walk up/ticketing system inquiries.
  • Remote software installations.
  • Loaner equipment check in/out and maintenance.
  • Daily equipment inventory.
  • Processing access forms.
  • Documentation efforts such as Knowledge Article creation, SharePoint updates.
  • Password Resets.
  • Maintain Service Desk unit's storage areas.
  • Forms processing.
Physical Requirements Sit for extended periods; frequently stand and walk; manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination; corrected hearing and vision to normal range; verbal communication; use of office equipment including computer workstations, telephones, calculators, copiers, printers, and scanners with or without reasonable accommodation.
