Minimum Qualifications Non-competitive- a current student pursuing a degree in Pubic Administration, Public Health, or Political Science.
Duties Description The Office of Legislative and Intergovernmental Affairs is responsible for monitoring all relevant legislation, representing the Agency's interests before New York State Legislature and serving as the point of contact for members of the legislature, other state agencies, county officials, and local units of government. The Student Intern would be responsible for assisting the bureau's Director and Liaison with proactive lobbying correspondence with legislators regarding new and upcoming OPWDD ADMs, regulations, and initiatives. The position will also conduct research on legislation and assist with legislative and constituent case tracking, draft responses to legislative letters, and lead special projects as needed including attending hearings and taking notes, and assisting other OPWDD departments.
Typical hours will be TBD dependent on school schedule, legislative session calendar, and remote days of Director and Liaison.
